If a homeowner looks hard enough, they will eventually find a patio design they like that also fits into the design of their home. By using octagon or other shaped bricks for the main patio area, including the main path, with square or rectangle bricks on the perimeter will establish an area for which people can walk.
By being conscious of other parts of landscaping, the patio design can fit into the layout or conflict with the existing plans. The choice of materials will be the primary consideration in having it fit in better.
